Was your daughter always this much trouble?

Corinne: I'm everything you ever wanted to be.
Billy: A cunt?
Corinne: Exactly.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains has some great moments, but, like the Sleaze Sisters in Times Square, their following is a zombie cult. Thanks for recognizing how powerful a role model can be in our lives and how important they are, but hypothetically speaking, these bands' fans don't look up to them for their rad eye makeup. They look up to them because they represent girls who aren't afraid to think for themselves.

Then again, maybe they're just trying to remind us that the sisterhood is powerful.

Rubberband Man Bounces Back

#1 rapper crush/felon TI has been blowing up the blogosphere lately with news of his plea deal and upcoming album, Paper Trail.

The first single, "No Matter What," has been leaked. I was expecting an angry "Hurt" type of jam calling out his bodyguard and maybe even Shawty Lo, but instead we got his testament to his resiliency, which actually kind of reminds me of this song. (Right? Or is it just me?)

Here's a round-up of the fave links:
Earl Boykins puts it in graph form for the NYTimes
The insightful Status Ain't Hood
Compa-who? Sway interviews for MTV
Speaking of MTV, there's talk of his own TV show
Thoughts of a 8 Time Felon—a new mixtape from Trapaholics. (Unfortunately, only about half of the tracks are worth the hard-drive space, including several remixes ft. Young Jeezey (is he trying to break a world record or something?), "Let It Go" with Keisha Cole and surprisingly, "Touchdown," which features Eminem copping Houston's swagger.

A Girl Called Dusty

A couple years ago I decided that "Son of a Preacher Man" was my deserted island song—the song that I'd choose to listen to if I could have only one; like if I was stuck under a hatch in the Dharma Initiative's Swan Station, I would have started my mornings with Dusty instead of Mama Cass. I've got no real sentimental attachment to the song, but it's great and soulful, and look at the way she can deliver it without more effort than it takes her to swing those satin sleeves around.

More blue-eyed soul:

Queen, I'd be lost in a state of misery without your peroxide beehive to guide me.
